Adding Users

The Add New User dialog box lets you add a new user record in FASTER Web. Users can access FASTER Web through the FASTER Web credentials that you create while adding a new user, or through the active directory credentials.

Tip

To view the Add New User dialog box, click the Add New User link.

To add a user record

1.    Open the Manage Users page.

2.    Click the Add New User link.

The Add New User dialog box opens.

3.    In the Username box, type the user name.

4.    In the Password box, do one of the following:

§      Type the password.

§      Click the Generate Password link.

A system generated password gets populated in the Password box.

Note: If the authentication mode is configured as Mixed Authentication, you need to specify whether the user is an active directory user or not by selecting the Is Active Directory User check box. The users who have the Is Active Directory User check box selected need to use their active directory password to sign in to FASTER applications. Also, the Password field is not displayed for users marked as active directory users.

The user’s time zone is automatically configured to the time zone specified for the site that is assigned to the user. For more information on the time zone of a site, refer to Global Fuel Import Settings.

5.    In the User Status list, select Active or Disabled.

6.    In the Person's Name box, type the name of the person who you want to associate with the user.

Note:

  • You can also click the Search/Add Person link to search and add person from the FASTER persons list.
  • The person selected from the FASTER persons list must not be associated with any of the users.
  • To assign a FASTER Web user as a Web API User, select the Restrict to Web API Only check box. A Web API User cannot log on to the FASTER Web application but can access the Web Service APIs. The Web API User can also access the FASTER Web API documentation using the FASTER Web API documentation URL.

7.    Click one of the following:

§      Save to save the information and close the dialog box.

§      Save & New to save the information and add another record.

§      Cancel to disregard any changes and close the dialog box.

Adding Active Directory Users

To add an active directory user

1.    Open the Manage Users page.

2.    Click the Add New User link.

The Add New User dialog box opens.

3.    Select the Is Active Directory User? check box.

4.    In the Username box, type the username of the active directory user.

Note: The username of an active directory user must be in domain\username format.

5.    Click the Verify User link to verify the following:

Note: The Verify User link is not displayed if your authentication mode is AD FS Mode - FASTER and AD FS Authentication.

Note: To assign an active directory user as a Web API User, select the Restrict to Web API Only check box. A Web API User cannot log on to the FASTER Web application but can access the Web Service APIs. The Web API User can also access the FASTER Web API documentation using the FASTER Web API documentation URL.

Adding Users when Authentication Provider is enabled

The Add New User dialog box lets you add a new user record in FASTER Web. Users can access FASTER Web through the Authentication Provider credentials.

Tip

To view the Add New User dialog box, click the Add New User link.

To add a user record

1.    Open the Manage Users page.

2.    Click the Add New User link.

The Add New User dialog box opens.

3.    In the Username box, type the user name.

4.    In the User Status list, select Active or Disabled.

5.    In the Person's Name box, type the name of the person who you want to associate with the user.

Note:

  • You can also click the Search/Add Person link to search and add person from the FASTER persons list.
  • The person selected from the FASTER persons list must not be associated with any of the users.
  • To assign a FASTER Web user as a Web API User, select the Restrict to Web API Only check box. A Web API User cannot log on to the FASTER Web application but can access the Web Service APIs. The Web API User can also access the FASTER Web API documentation using the FASTER Web API documentation URL.
  • When Restrict to Web API Only check box is selected, the password feature will be displayed. The user can type the password or click Generate Password to generate a system generated password.
  • When Restrict to Web API Only check box is not selected, the user must have an unique email address. A process will be initiated  to determine if the user should be managed by Authentication Provider or Enterprise Connection. If the user is not an Enterprise Connection user, a new user will be created in the Authentication Provider and an invitation will be sent over email.
  • You will need to verify your email before logging in to the FASTER Web for the first time. Please check your inbox for an email from FASTER's Authentication Provider to verify your email address.
  • When creating a new user that is not part of an Enterprise Connection (such as Azure AD or Azure AD + SAML), the user will receive an email asking them to set a password.

6.    Click one of the following:

§      Save to save the information and close the dialog box.

§      Save & New to save the information and add another record.

§      Cancel to disregard any changes and close the dialog box.

Note:  If the Authentication Provider is enabled:

  • All users in FASTER Web will use the Authentication Provider, except Web API users. In a future update, the FASTER Web APIs will move to a new authentication approach for Web APIs that will also use the Authentication Provider.

  • Any person associated with an Authentication Provider User will be required to have a unique email address..

  • If a user is restricted to use only Web APIs (Restrict to Web API is checked), the email address is not required for the user.
