Custom Report and BI Access

The Custom Report and BI Access section lets you configure the access details of Microsoft Report Builder application that is used by Report Developer to develop custom reports. Based on the configuration, Report Developer can access the Microsoft Report Builder application either from the FASTER Web application server, FASTER Web Report Server, or from the client machine.

In this section, you must provide the access details of the Microsoft Report Builder application whether it is hosted on the FASTER Web application server or on the client machine.

·      If the application is hosted on the FASTER Web application server, you must provide the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) file name of the application. Using the RDP file, Report Developer can connect and access Microsoft Report Builder from the FASTER Web application server.

·      If the application is installed on individual client machines, Report Developer can launch the application from Reports > Microsoft Report Builder > Launch Microsoft SQL Report Builder. Microsoft Report Builder is launched either from the Report server or from the client machine based on SQL Server version.

Edit Custom Report and BI Access Settings

The Edit Custom Report and BI Access Settings dialog box lets you configure the hosting details of the Microsoft Report Builder application.

1.    Click the Setup module.

2.    In the Application Setup section, do one of the following:

§      Click next to the Reports option, and then click Settings.

§      In the Reports section of Application Setup, click the Settings link.

The Reports Settings page opens.

3.    In the Custom Report and BI Access section, click Edit Custom Report and BI Access Settings.

The Edit Custom Report and BI Access dialog box opens.

4.    In the Microsoft Report Builder application hosting scenario field, click one of the following options:

§      Hosted centrally on the FASTER Web application server

This option allows Report Developer to access the Microsoft Report Builder application from the FASTER Web application server.

§      Installed on individual client machines

This option allows Report Developer to access the Microsoft Report Builder application that is installed on the client machine.

5.    In the Allow user to launch the Microsoft Report Builder from FASTER Web field, click one of the following options based on the Microsoft Report Builder application hosting scenario value selected:

§      Yes

§      No

In the Microsoft Report Builder File Name box, type the RDP File name of the Microsoft Report Builder application.

Report Developer can access the Microsoft Report Builder application that is installed on the client machine.

Note:

  • If the Microsoft Report Builder File name value is invalid or the RDP file does not exist at the RDP file path, an error message is displayed.
  • If you are upgrading FASTER Web from 6.4.89 version or lower version, the Microsoft Report Builder application hosting scenario field is set as per the following two cases:
  • In the Setup > Manage Security > Settings > Global Settings, if the Web Application Hosting Scenario field value is set to either FASTER Hosted or Third Party Hosted, then the default value of the Microsoft Report Builder application hosting scenario field is set to Hosted centrally on the FASTER Web application server, and the default value of the Allow user to launch the Microsoft Report Builder from FASTER Web field is set to No.
  • In the Setup > Manage Security > Settings > Global Settings, if the Web Application Hosting Scenario field value is set to either Internally hosted, Web accessed via network or Internally hosted, Web accessed via internet, then the default value of the Microsoft Report Builder application hosting scenario field is set to Installed on individual client machines, and the default value of the Allow user to launch the Microsoft Report Builder from FASTER Web field is set to Yes.
